Corona is our home city, and most of its garages sit on the same kind of slab. The city doubled in size between 1990 and 2010, so the typical Corona garage floor is a tract slab poured in that window and now twenty to thirty-five years old, from Sierra del Oro to South Corona.
A slab that age is usually sound, but it has stopped being new. The sawcut control joints have opened and started to chip at the edges, hairline shrinkage cracks have spread out from the corners, and years of cars have worked oil deep into the surface in front of each bay. Many of these garages also carry a coating already, a roll-on kit or an early builder upgrade, now peeling along the tire lines. Coating over any of that does not hold, because a new floor is only as sound as what is underneath it.
So the work on a Corona garage is mostly preparation. We diamond grind the slab back to clean concrete, which takes off any failed coating and draws out the oil, then rebuild the spalled joint edges, chase and fill the cracks, and honor the control joints rather than burying them.
